China Forms Working Group Following Fatal Suspension Bridge Accident in Xinjiang

In response to a tragic suspension bridge accident that occurred in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, the Office of the Work Safety Commission under China's State Council has mobilized a specialized working group. This group, which comprises representatives from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Forestry and Grassland Administration, has been sent to the accident site located in the Ili Kazak autonomous prefecture of northern Xinjiang.

The accident took place in Zhaosu county at around 6:18 pm on Wednesday when a suspension cable on the bridge snapped, resulting in the tilting of the bridge deck and causing 29 individuals to fall. The newly formed team will provide assistance to local authorities in managing medical care for those injured and will lead the investigation into the causes of the accident. Moreover, officials have been instructed to thoroughly examine the incident, identify its roots, and enhance safety protocols to ensure that such tragedies do not occur again.

The bridge snapped? Was it poorly maintained? Built with substandard materials? We'll never know the truth.

Just another PR exercise. How long until the investigation is 'concluded' with an official narrative that protects those really responsible?
