A cyclist is now too traumatized to bike to work following an incident during her morning commute. On July 19th, Klaudia Mitura was cycling along the Ashton Canal in Manchester when she encountered a couple walking their dog. Footage from her bike camera captured the moment she braked after one of the individuals shouted at her to slow down.
The 34-year-old cyclist explained that the couple had a dog, to which they responded with an expletive. The man then called her a name before seemingly pushing her into the canal. Ms. Mitura, who cannot swim, stated that her feet were strapped to the pedals, causing her to fear for her life.
The mother of two managed to find her footing on a rock but remained in the canal for approximately five minutes before another walker noticed her and provided assistance. The good samaritan then contacted the police, as her phone had been damaged in the fall. Greater Manchester Police confirmed that an investigation into the incident had been initiated, but no arrests had been made.
The machine operator, originally from Poland, recounted the event, stating that she was on her way to work and cycles this route daily. She explained that she was attempting to pass the couple, but the man did not move. He then pushed her into the water. The couple left without checking on her well-being.
Ms. Mitura expressed her fear, as she cannot swim and feared drowning. She added that she doesn't know what would have happened if no one had been present. The 42-year-old shared the video of the encounter on TikTok, where it has gained significant views. She described the lasting trauma, which has deterred her from cycling, despite it being her primary mode of transportation. She is now scared to walk or cycle in the area. She has taken time off work and is unsure when she will cycle again. She is seeking help for her mental health. A police spokesperson confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.

It's ironic how the couple was walking a dog but didn't show an ounce of kindness. They should be ashamed!
