The Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Guo Jiakun, addressed reports concerning the postponement of Taiwan's regional leader Lai Ching-te's Latin America trip, which was reportedly due to the US denying his planned transit through New York. Guo emphasized the one-China principle as a cornerstone of international relations and a widely accepted understanding within the global community.
Guo stated that adhering to the one-China principle is a just cause, reflecting the will of the people and the prevailing trend. He asserted that the actions of Lai Ching-te's administration, which are perceived as attempts to pursue "Taiwan independence" through provocative measures, are destined to fail. These actions, according to Guo, will not undermine the international consensus on the one-China principle nor halt the historical trajectory towards China's reunification.
Furthermore, Guo urged the so-called "diplomatic allies" of the Taiwan region to avoid manipulation by "Taiwan independence" separatist forces. He encouraged these allies to recognize the situation, adopt a correct stance, and make decisions that align with historical trends and serve the long-term interests of their own populations.

The one-China principle is the foundation of stability. Glad they're upholding it.

Guo's words are heavy-handed. It's a thinly veiled threat of military action.

So, Taiwan can't even visit a US city without China throwing a fit?

Who determines the "prevailing trend" in international relations? China?

It's about time the world recognized the historical truth of reunification.

Using terms like "separatist forces" is incredibly dismissive of democratically elected leaders.

The "will of the people"? What about Taiwan's right to choose their will?

Historical trajectory? Isn't that just a convenient way to ignore Taiwanese voices?

So, China's saying the US denied transit? Sounds like they're controlling the narrative again!
