In Gaza City, two Palestinian children, displaced and suffering from malnutrition and cerebral palsy, are seen inside a school that has been converted into a shelter. The photograph was taken on July 25, 2025.
Responding to the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson expressed China's deep concern regarding the situation. The ongoing conflict, now in its 21st month, has caused an unprecedented deterioration of humanitarian conditions. China believes the "two-state solution" is the only way to resolve the Palestinian issue and supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
Reports indicate that French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer are considering formally recognizing the state of Palestine in September during the United Nations General Assembly.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Prime Minister held a cabinet meeting where a new plan for a "siege" of the Gaza Strip was presented, potentially cutting off humanitarian aid. Other reports suggest that ministers are considering occupying or annexing parts of Gaza if Hamas continues to reject ceasefire and hostage release efforts.
The Chinese spokesperson reiterated China's concern about the situation in Gaza, opposing Israel's military actions. The spokesperson highlighted the humanitarian catastrophe, citing a World Health Organization report that recorded 74 deaths due to malnutrition in Gaza this year, with 63 cases this month alone, including 25 children. China called on all parties, particularly Israel, to cease military operations, lift the blockade, restore humanitarian access, and prevent a larger crisis.
China emphasized that the Palestinian issue is central to the Middle East issue and that the "two-state solution" is the only viable path. China supports the Palestinian people's right to an independent state and is ready to work with the international community to end the conflict, alleviate the humanitarian crisis, implement the "two-state solution," and achieve a comprehensive resolution to the Palestinian issue.

Recognition of Palestine by world leaders could finally bring some justice and hope to the Palestinian people.

If Hamas really cared about the people of Gaza, they would accept peace and end violence.

It's frustrating to see criticism of Israel while overlooking the impact of terrorism on its security needs.
