China Urges Continued Political Settlement Efforts for Ukraine Crisis

On Friday, a Chinese envoy emphasized the importance of sustained efforts towards a political solution for the ongoing Ukraine crisis. Recent actions from both Russia and Ukraine, including the implementation of agreements from past negotiations and the exchange of prisoners and the remains of fallen soldiers, indicate progress. Geng Shuang, China's deputy permanent representative to the United Nations, noted that they had recently engaged in their third round of direct discussions, where they agreed to continue focusing on humanitarian concerns and prisoner exchanges.

While these developments are encouraging, Geng expressed concern over the persistent drone and missile strikes that have led to significant casualties and damage to infrastructure.
