During the second day of the World Swimming Championships held in Singapore, the hopes of Bulgarian swimmers were dashed as none of them made it past the heats in their events. Petar Mitsin had previously secured a seventh place finish in the 400-meter freestyle final but struggled in the 200-meter freestyle heats, ending up in 26th place with a time of 1:47.88 minutes—this performance fell short of qualifying for the semifinals. The fastest time in this heat was recorded by Romanian Olympic champion David Popovici, who completed the distance in 1:45.43 minutes. Mitsin is also set to compete in the 200-meter butterfly.
Gabriela Georgieva stepped into her first event at the championships and finished with a time of 1:01.42 minutes, placing her 24th in the 100-meter backstroke heats. Georgieva, who previously excelled in the 200-meter backstroke by finishing sixth at the last World Championships in Doha, will have another chance to showcase her skills in that event later in the competition. Meanwhile, Teya Nikolova made her world championship debut but faced challenges; her time of 1:08.59 minutes in the women's 100-meter breaststroke earned her 33rd place.

This is a disappointing performance across the board. Bulgaria needs better coaching.

Nikolova, welcome to the world championships! Plenty of experience to be gained.

Nikolova's debut didn't go as planned. Clearly, experience is lacking.

24th and 33rd place? Ouch. The competition is fierce, unfortunately.
