At the World Aquatics Championships in Singapore, China secured two silver and two bronze medals on Wednesday. France's Leon Marchand also set a new world record in the men's 200m individual medley.
In the mixed 4x100m medley relay final, the Chinese team of Xu Jiayu, Qin Haiyang, Zhang Yufei, and Wu Qingfeng earned silver with a time of 3:39.99. Neutral Athletes B (NAB) took gold, setting a World Championships record, while Canada claimed bronze. The USA, the defending champions, did not qualify for the final.
Li Bingjie of China, competing in her third individual event, secured silver in the women's 200m freestyle with a strong comeback in the final 50 meters, finishing in 1:54.52. Australia's Mollie O'Callaghan won gold, and the USA's Claire Weinstein took bronze. Li expressed satisfaction with her performance, having improved her personal best by over a second. She is scheduled to compete in the 800m freestyle next.
In the men's 50m breaststroke final, Qin Haiyang, who had previously won gold in the 100m, earned a bronze medal with a time of 26.67 seconds. Italy's Simone Cerasuolo won gold, and neutral athlete Kirill Prigoda took silver.
In the men's 100m freestyle semifinals, China's Pan Zhanle finished third in his heat with a time of 47.81 seconds. However, faster times in the second heat, including performances by Romania's David Popovici and the USA's Jack Alexy, pushed Pan to 10th overall, preventing him from advancing to the final.
In the men's 200m butterfly final, China's Chen Juner placed seventh. The USA's Luca Urlando won gold, followed by Poland's Krzysztof Chmielewski and Australia's Harrison Turner.
Tunisia's Ahmed Jaouadi won gold in the men's 800m freestyle final with a time of 7:36.88. Germany's Sven Schwarz and Lukas Martens secured silver and bronze, respectively.
Day 20 of the championships saw the first world record broken in Singapore. Leon Marchand of France set a new world record in the men's 200m individual medley semifinals with a time of 1:52.69, surpassing the previous record set in 2011. China's Wang Shun qualified for the final with the seventh-best time.
In other semifinal events, Wan Letian advanced to the women's 50m backstroke final, ranking fourth. Twelve-year-old Yu Zidi finished eighth in the women's 200m butterfly semifinals, securing a spot in the final. Yu advanced to her second final at the World Championships after clocking 2:07.95 in the women's 200m butterfly semifinals.
Italy's Chiara Pellacani and Matteo Santoro won gold in the mixed 3m synchronized springboard with 308.13 points. Australia's Cassiel Rousseau and Maddison Keeney took silver, while China's Li Yajie and Cheng Zilong earned bronze.
Earlier in the day, Chen Yuxi and Xie Peiling advanced to the women's 10m platform final after placing first and second, respectively, in the preliminary round.
