On Saturday, FBI Director Kash Patel confronted the left-wing media for accusing him of dishonesty concerning his discovery of numerous sensitive documents linked to the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, which were hidden in "burn bags" located in a concealed room within the FBI. It was reported that the burn bag system is utilized for the destruction of classified documents, and multiple bags containing thousands of documents were found. Among these was a classified annex to former special counsel John Durham's report containing critical intelligence insights.
Patel spoke about these findings on X, recalling his previous work in 2017 and 2018 where he demonstrated the Steele Dossier was fabricated intelligence used by corrupt officials at the FBI to mislead a federal judge and illegally surveil Donald Trump's presidential campaign, funded by his political adversaries. Despite presenting this evidence, Patel noted that the media labeled him a liar at the time. Now, as the FBI Director, he reiterated that the bureau has uncovered significant documents related to the Russia investigation, including the declassified annex, only to face similar accusations from the media again. Patel expressed hope that the FBI might eventually release more documents directly to dispel any misinformation.
The declassification of the classified annex is being conducted alongside several high-ranking officials, including CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Attorney General Pam Bondi. This annex will be sent to Senator Chuck Grassley, who leads the Senate Judiciary Committee, for public distribution. In a prior interview, Patel indicated that upon assuming his role at the FBI, he discovered a previously hidden room filled with documents and computer hard drives that had been concealed from public knowledge. He emphasized the significance of these findings and their relation to the initial Trump-Russia investigation, known internally as Crossfire Hurricane.
While the specific content of the recently discovered documents remains unclear, sources indicated that the latest findings align with investigative requests from Senator Grassley, who has been seeking information related to Durham's inquiries. Following his extensive investigation into the origins of the Trump-Russia probe, Durham was appointed after Robert Mueller concluded his lengthy examination. Grassley's staff is currently analyzing the underlying materials as part of their probe, while Patel's team is making efforts to transfer these documents to Congress based on existing investigative requests.

The FBI has a long way to go to restore credibility, but Patel's efforts are a good start.

It’s just another excuse to attack and smear people who are inconvenient to some people’s narrative.

The FBI has been through enough scrutiny and criticism. The last thing they need is yet another partisan witch hunt.

Unbelievable! How much more evidence do we need?! The people who lied about Trump need to be held responsible.

I believe Patel's words, because I believe in Trump, because the media is lying.

This sounds to me like someone's trying to deflect from some kind of accountability.
