On Monday evening, China's natural resources and meteorological authorities issued their highest-level alert for meteorological risks related to geological hazards. This warning was prompted by heavy rainfall affecting a large portion of the country.
The Ministry of Natural Resources and the China Meteorological Administration specifically highlighted a very high risk of geological disasters, including landslides and mudslides. This risk was predicted to occur from 8 pm Monday to 8 pm Tuesday in certain areas, including parts of northeastern Beijing and northeastern Hebei Province.
Residents in the areas at risk were strongly encouraged to heed evacuation instructions issued by local disaster prevention authorities. This was especially crucial for those living near slopes, cliffs, gullies, or bodies of water. They were advised to relocate to nearby temporary shelters for safety.
Furthermore, an orange alert, the second-highest level of warning, was also in effect. This alert indicated a high risk of geological disasters and covered parts of northeastern Beijing, northern Tianjin, and northeastern Hebei.
A yellow alert, the third level of warning, was also active. This alert covered northern Beijing, northern Tianjin, eastern Zhejiang province, and parts of northeastern and western Hebei, northern Shanxi, central Jilin, northern Shaanxi, and the eastern region of the Inner Mongolia autonomous region.
Local governments and relevant departments were instructed to implement geological disaster prevention measures in accordance with established emergency plans. The public was urged to stay informed about early warnings and to avoid entering areas identified as high-risk.

I wish they would develop a better strategy than just scaring people.

What kind of response is issuing just warnings? We need action, not alarmism!

Why is the government issuing warnings instead of taking proactive measures to prevent these disasters?
