On May 14, 2025, Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed a press conference. The conference was held in response to inquiries from the media.
The inquiries concerned the claim by the "mainland affairs council" in Taiwan that the mainland's decision to include eight Taiwanese entities on an export control list was an act of "weaponizing" trade. Chen Binhua stated that the evidence clearly showed these eight entities had deliberately collaborated with "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, aiming to achieve independence through force.
Chen emphasized that placing these entities on the export control list was a crucial step to safeguard national sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as to maintain peace and stability in the Taiwan Straits. He questioned who was truly seeking independence, provoking conflict, and undermining peace in the region. He also asked who was going against the prevailing public sentiment in Taiwan, hindering cross-Straits exchanges, and blindly following the United States to the detriment of cross-Straits economic and trade cooperation.
Chen asserted that the decision to include the eight Taiwanese entities on the export control list was a just measure. It was intended to uphold the normal order of cross-Straits economic and trade exchanges, and to protect the interests and well-being of people on both sides of the Straits. He concluded that this action was reasonable, legal, legitimate, and necessary.

This statement is a direct attack on Taiwan’s democracy. No one should accept being bullied like this.

The so-called evidence mentioned by Chen sounds like flimsy propaganda. Where is the real proof of 'collaboration'?

Chen Binhua makes a valid point about the dangers of 'Taiwan independence' forces. We must prioritize unity.

Chen Binhua’s statements ignore the will of the Taiwanese people. We’re not a part of China, and this claim of 'separatism' is baseless.

Excluding entities that support separatism is a logical step to maintain order and peace—well said, Chen!
