China Shines in Basketball and Archery at FISU World University Games

China secured a victory over the United States in the women's basketball final at the FISU World University Games, with a final score of 81-69. The Chinese team showcased a balanced offensive attack, with four players reaching double figures in scoring.

Chen Yujie, playing small forward, led the team with 19 points, shooting efficiently from the field. Tang Ziting, the power forward, contributed 16 points, including four successful three-pointers. Chinese coach Zhao Xuetong emphasized the team's approach, encouraging the players to play freely without pressure, having already met their pre-Games expectations.

The United States' Deyona Gaston scored a game-high 21 points, while point guard Sidney Love added 15 points. U.S. coach Krista Lea Gerlich acknowledged China's strong performance, noting their effective defensive adjustments in the second half that presented challenges for their team.

In archery, China also earned a gold medal. The recurve mixed team final saw Liu Yanxiu and Wang Yan defeat Japan's Waka Sonoda and Yuya Funahashi with a score of 6-2.

Track and field events also saw several gold medals awarded. Finland celebrated its first gold of the competition in the women's 100m hurdles, with Saara Keskitalo taking first place. Belgium also achieved its first gold in the women's pole vault, as Elien Vekemans cleared a height of 4.60 meters. In the men's javelin throw, Simon Wieland of Switzerland secured the gold with a season-best performance.

Following Day 9 of the competition, the United States maintained its lead in the medal table. China held the second position, and Japan was in third place.

Maybe the U.S. should focus more on fundamentals instead of just relying on athleticism.

While the Chinese team played well, it's disappointing to see the U.S. lagging behind.
