Following a recent round of economic and trade talks between China and the United States in Stockholm, Sweden, on July 29, 2025, Li Chenggang, China's international trade representative and vice minister of commerce, addressed the press. He reported on the discussions held between the trade and economic teams of both nations.
Li stated that the teams engaged in in-depth, candid, and constructive exchanges, focusing on significant topics of mutual interest. The two sides acknowledged the importance of maintaining stable and healthy economic ties between China and the U.S. They also discussed each other's primary trade and economic concerns.
During the talks, the teams reviewed the implementation of the Geneva and London consensuses, acknowledging the progress made. Li also mentioned that the two sides would continue to work towards extending the pause on reciprocal tariffs.
Looking ahead, Li indicated that the economic and trade teams would maintain close communication and conduct timely exchanges on trade and economic matters. The goal is to continue promoting the stable and healthy development of bilateral economic and trade relations.
