Jordan Launches Long-Term Strategy to Attract More Chinese Tourists

During a press conference held in Amman, Jordan, on July 29, 2025, Jordan's Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Lina Annab, discussed the country's strategy to increase tourism from China. The minister emphasized the importance of the Chinese market and the ongoing efforts to showcase Jordan's distinct tourism attractions.

Annab highlighted that China is a significant global tourism market, and Jordan is actively working to attract Chinese travelers. She mentioned the launch of various campaigns designed to promote the diverse experiences available within Jordan.

The minister's comments were made during a press conference concerning a desert ultramarathon event planned in Wadi Rum, Jordan, from November 1 to 8. Annab also mentioned collaborations with the national carrier to improve travel connections with China. She stressed that attracting Chinese visitors is a long-term strategic goal for Jordan, representing a sustained effort rather than a temporary initiative.

More tourists from China mean more environmental concerns. We need to consider the impact on our natural sites.

Attracting tourists can lead to cultural dilution. We must be cautious about our identity as a nation.

I love that Jordan is expanding its horizons and recognizing the potential of the Chinese market. Great news!

This feels like a shallow effort to boost numbers without truly considering the quality or sustainability of tourism.

Jordan has so much to offer beyond attracting visitors from China. Let’s not forget about our own history and local attractions!
