India has emerged as the leading exporter of smartphones to the United States, surpassing China. This shift is largely attributed to Apple's strategic manufacturing adjustments under its "China Plus One" policy. In the second quarter of 2025, smartphones assembled in India represented 44 percent of US imports, a substantial increase from 13 percent the previous year.
China's share of the US market significantly decreased to 25 percent. Vietnam also experienced growth, holding a 30 percent share. This restructuring reflects Apple's expanded production capabilities in India, including the assembly of the iPhone 16. The company aims to lessen its dependence on China amidst ongoing trade tensions.
Apple CEO Tim Cook has confirmed that the majority of iPhones sold in the US this year will be manufactured in India. Other manufacturers, such as Samsung and Motorola, are also gradually increasing their US-bound production in India, although on a smaller scale.

The United States has imposed sanctions on the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization. This action is in response to their legal efforts against Israel at the International Criminal Court and the International Court of Justice. The US cited violations of the PLO Commitments Compliance Act and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act. The US accused Palestinian leaders of attempting to "internationalize the conflict" and undermine peace efforts.
These sanctions include visa bans on PLO and PA members. This action occurs as international legal pressure increases on Israel regarding its actions in Gaza, where over 60,200 Palestinians have died since October 2023. The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former Defence Minister Yoav Gallant, and the International Court of Justice is hearing a genocide case brought by South Africa.

They're undermining the peace talks, and the US can't just let it happen.

Apple's just chasing cheaper labor. It's not about benefiting India; it's about their bottom line.
