The Trump administration significantly reduced federal funding for programs aimed at preventing gun violence within the United States. Over half of the existing funding was eliminated, resulting in a cut of $158 million in grants. These grants had previously supported various organizations in major cities, including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Washington, and Baltimore.
Specifically, the U.S. Department of Justice had awarded 145 community violence intervention (CVI) grants, totaling more than $300 million. However, in April, 69 of these grants were abruptly terminated, according to government records.
This action targeting CVI programs was part of a wider reduction in funding at the department's Office of Justice Programs. In April, the office terminated a total of 365 grants, valued at $811 million. This impacted a variety of programs focused on public safety and services for victims.

Maybe these programs weren't effective. Let’s not throw money at the problem, let's analyze the methods and the program".

They are likely to change the funding source or the programs to find more effective solutions as this might not be the best option.

This is a dangerous decision that proves politicians care more about personal gain than public safety. The actions are irresponsible and cruel.

Hopefully, private organizations or other organizations will step up to fill the space

More guns, less help. Makes sense if you're benefiting from the gun industry. Otherwise, it's just a cruel joke on the people.
