During a recent news conference, Deion Sanders, the University of Colorado’s head football coach, openly discussed his battle with bladder cancer and the significant challenges that came with it. At 57 years old, he revealed that he is now cancer-free yet candidly described the changes in his daily life, including needing to use a catheter and adult diapers. Sanders acknowledged that adjusting to his new reality has been difficult, stating, "I'm still dealing with going to the bathroom. It's a whole life change," highlighting how his bathroom habits are no longer what they used to be. With a touch of humor, he mentioned he now has to rely on adult diapers, referring to the brand "Depend."
Throughout his treatment, which involved laparoscopic surgery to remove and replace his bladder, Sanders also experienced a significant weight loss of approximately 25 pounds. Although he is currently 12 pounds lighter than his average weight, he reassured everyone that he feels strong and ready to continue his coaching duties. Understanding that many others may be facing similar health challenges, Sanders urged those affected to stop feeling ashamed and to confront their issues head-on.
regular checkups could potentially save lives and make a difference in one’s health journey.

Unnecessary vulnerability. Is there more to this announcement, perhaps fundraising?

I admire his strength, but this is a massive overshare, creating unease. Can we focus on football?

Love him even more after this. A true role model showing vulnerability and strength.

This will discourage people who look up to him.

I love Coach Prime, but I don't need a play-by-play on his toilet breaks.
