The academic year for all Ministry of Education (MOE) kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools in Singapore will commence on January 2, 2026, and conclude on November 20, 2026.
Kindergarten 2 students and those in Primary 2 through Primary 6 will begin their school year on January 5, as announced by the ministry.
Students entering their first year in junior colleges (JCs) and Millennia Institute (MI) will start on February 4. The remaining JC and MI students will begin their academic year earlier, on January 12.
There will be four vacation periods for schools, JCs, and MI during the 2026 academic year. The first vacation period for MOE kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools will be from March 14 to March 22. The second will run from May 30 to June 28, followed by a third from September 5 to September 13, and a final vacation from November 21 to December 31.
JCs and MI will generally follow the first three vacation periods of the MOE kindergartens, primary, and secondary schools. However, the final vacation period for JC Year 1 and MI Years 1 and 2 students will be from November 28 to December 31. JC Year 2 and MI Year 3 students will have their vacation period from the conclusion of the GCE A-Level examinations until December 31.

This calendar gives a lot of rest and time off. Which I am fully in support of as a parent!

It's great that they're giving JCs and MI students a different vacation schedule, reflecting exam needs.

The early start enables for adequate time to catch up on any work and prepare for a new academic year.

The long June break is good, but the March break feels too short to recover from the start of the year.
