China's Women's Volleyball Team Completes Arlington Sweep with Dramatic Comeback Victory

The Chinese women's volleyball team secured a dramatic 3-2 comeback victory against the United States in the 2025 Women's Volleyball Nations League (VNL) held in Arlington, Texas, on July 14th, Beijing time. This win marked their fourth consecutive victory, concluding their Arlington performance with an undefeated record.

Prior to this match, the Chinese team had already achieved a thrilling 3-2 comeback win against Germany, extending their winning streak at the VNL in Arlington. They repeated this feat against the US, overcoming a two-set deficit to win the match. The team will now advance to the VNL 2025 Finals, scheduled to take place in Lodz, Poland, from July 23rd to 27th.

The match against the US was the final game of the VNL 2025, with the results determining the final teams' positions. The Chinese team struggled in the initial two sets, losing the first and failing to impress in the second. However, starting from the third set, the team improved their defense.

In the final set, despite an injury to Gong Xiangyu, the team persevered. The game was closely contested, with both teams trading points. Ultimately, the Chinese team prevailed, winning the set 18-16.

Throughout the tournament, China also defeated the Dominican Republic and Germany in five sets, and Canada 3-1. The head coach expressed satisfaction with the players' resilience. The team concluded their VNL 2025 journey with nine wins out of twelve games.

China finished fifth in the preliminary round, with nine wins, three losses, and 24 points. They will compete against Poland in the quarterfinals. The US, despite securing a spot in the finals, finished eighth. Other teams advancing to the Finals include Brazil, Japan, Turkey, and Germany.
