The Russian Defense Ministry announced the interception of numerous Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) over several regions of the country. The report detailed a large-scale overnight raid involving nearly 100 drones. This incident occurred amidst ongoing diplomatic efforts between Moscow and Kiev.
The ministry stated that 67 drones were successfully neutralized over the Bryansk, Smolensk, and Kaluga regions. An additional 30 UAVs were intercepted in southern Russia, targeting the Volgograd, Rostov, Voronezh, and Kursk regions, as well as the Crimean Peninsula. Further interceptions occurred near Moscow and within the Nizhny Novgorod, Oryol, and Tambov regions.
Regional authorities have reported no casualties or significant damage resulting from the attacks. The acting governor of the Rostov region confirmed the absence of injuries. The governor of the Smolensk region acknowledged the raid but indicated that information regarding damage or victims was not immediately available.
In the Volgograd region, drone debris caused damage to a section of overhead electric lines on the railway in the Oktyabrsky District, according to local officials.
This recent incident follows a pattern of repeated UAV strikes by Ukraine deep within Russian territory over several months. These attacks have frequently targeted residential buildings and other civilian infrastructure. The Kremlin has strongly condemned these actions, labeling them as "terrorist actions" aimed at deliberately targeting civilians.
The latest drone raid occurred after a new round of peace talks between Russia and Ukraine, which took place in Istanbul earlier in the week. While a ceasefire was not achieved, the two sides made progress on humanitarian issues, including agreements on the exchange of prisoners of war and civilians.
Russia has consistently expressed its willingness to pursue a diplomatic resolution to the conflict. However, it maintains that any potential agreement must address the underlying causes of the conflict and address its long-standing security concerns.

I'm glad to hear there were no casualties. It shows that the Russian defense is capable and working.

I’m tired of hearing Moscow’s justifications. The international community needs to hold them accountable for their aggression.

This shows the effectiveness of Russia's defense capabilities. We need to remain vigilant against any threats.

It's ironic that Russia talks about civilian safety when their own actions have led to countless civilian casualties in Ukraine.

Intercepting drones doesn't justify the invasion of another country. Peace should come before military claims.

Talk about terrorism! Russia is using this narrative to justify its own military actions against innocent civilians.
