Hu's journey to the silver medal was more challenging. He started in fifth place and briefly fell to eighth after the second round. However, he recovered and climbed back up the rankings, culminating in a final dive that earned him the runner-up position with a total of 368.75 points.
The bronze medal was awarded to Tim Axer, representing the host nation, with a score of 354.80 points.
In other events, China's Guo Qing won the women's taekwondo 53-kilogram title, defeating Chutikan Jongkolrattanawattana of Thailand in the final.
China's overall performance at the games placed them in second place on the medal table, with a total of 12 gold, 17 silver, and four bronze medals.
