Following a tragic incident, people are seen at the site of a jet crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka. A Bangladeshi fighter jet crashed into the school on July 21, 2025.
In response to a request from the Bangladeshi government, China has sent a medical team of five burn specialists. The Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh announced the specialists were scheduled to arrive in Dhaka on Thursday evening. They will then assist in treating severely injured patients at Bangladesh's National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery.
The crash occurred on Monday when a Bangladesh air force training jet experienced a technical problem shortly after takeoff and crashed into the school and college campus. The death toll from the crash rose to 32 by Wednesday, including students, teachers, and the pilot. Officials reported that 171 people were rescued, many with burn injuries.
On Thursday morning, a team of experts from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Kunming Medical University in Southwest China's Yunnan Province conducted a remote video consultation with Bangladesh's National Institute of Burns and Plastic Surgery. Chinese experts and Bangladeshi doctors analyzed the conditions of critically injured patients and discussed treatment plans.
The director general of the Department of Asian Affairs of the Chinese Foreign Ministry visited the Embassy of Bangladesh in China to express condolences. He signed the condolence book and offered sympathies to the bereaved families and the injured. He also stated that China and Bangladesh could strengthen cooperation in emergency rescue efforts.
