On Friday, former US President Donald Trump initiated a libel lawsuit against several news organizations. Court documents confirmed the filing.
The lawsuit targeted two reporters from the Wall Street Journal, along with their parent company, Dow Jones, News Corp, and media executive Rupert Murdoch. The legal action was launched in Miami, Florida.
The basis for the lawsuit stemmed from a Wall Street Journal report. The report detailed a greeting allegedly sent by Trump to Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex trafficker, in 2003. The greeting, intended for Epstein's birthday, reportedly included a drawing that was potentially sexually suggestive.
The Wall Street Journal described the drawing, noting the depiction of breasts and Trump's signature positioned to resemble pubic hair. The accompanying message wished Epstein a "wonderful secret" birthday. Trump has denied the authenticity of the report and the letter.
Prior to the lawsuit, Trump had indicated his intention to take legal action. He expressed his dissatisfaction with Murdoch, claiming Murdoch had promised to address the issue but failed to do so. Trump then announced his plans to sue the involved parties via social media.

It's ridiculous that he feels he can sue for libel over something he obviously knows is questionable.

This lawsuit is just another attempt by Trump to silence the media when they report the truth.

Murdoch can’t be manipulated by Trump forever; he’ll need to keep his distance from this mess.

I’m with Trump on this one; those “reporters” crossed a line with their allegations.

If a false story can damage a person’s reputation, they should have the right to fight back legally.
