A hospital located in Tianshui, Gansu province, has come under external management following its admission of altering blood test results that indicated lead levels surpassing safe limits. The Gansu Provincial Health Commission announced that the Gansu Provincial Hospital will assume full control of the Tianshui Second People's Hospital to enhance its clinical services. In this effort, thirty-six provincial experts have been dispatched for extended assignments, with Li Xingyong, the former Party secretary of the Gansu Provincial Hospital, appointed as the new director.
In reaction to the public's worries about the hospital's inaccurate test results, authorities stated that the facility has acquired the most advanced blood lead testing equipment in the country. The processes for installation, calibration, and training of staff have been completed, and provincial specialists are present on-site to ensure the reliability of testing procedures.
Earlier in the day, officials disclosed that between May 1 and June 30, seven children from Peixin Kindergarten in Tianshui were found to have elevated blood lead levels after testing at the hospital. It was revealed that the hospital modified the test results for the two children with the highest lead levels. Further investigation uncovered that the lab had previously engaged in other irregular practices related to altering blood test data.
Following the announcement regarding the management changes at the hospital, there were also shifts in local disease control authorities. Zhang Tingsheng has been appointed as the new Party secretary and director of the Gansu Provincial Center for Disease Control and Prevention, succeeding the prior leadership, which is now under formal investigation.

I appreciate the swift action taken to address the misconduct. This is how accountability should be handled!

External management is not enough. The people responsible for altering the results should be prosecuted!

What's the point of advanced equipment if the staff can't be trusted? This is a failure of the system.
