The British summer has experienced intense heat, but this weekend has brought heavy rainfall across the UK. The Met Office has issued thunderstorm warnings for a significant number of areas for Monday, with potential flash floods in several regions. The most severe weather is expected in northern England and Scotland today, while southern areas will experience wetter conditions tomorrow.
Yellow weather warnings are in effect for southern England tomorrow, spanning from Weymouth in the south-west to King's Lynn in north Norfolk. These warnings are in place from 3 am to 9 pm. Another yellow weather warning covers the Midlands, northern England, North Wales, and Scotland, active from 11 am to 9 pm tomorrow.
The wet conditions are expected to continue into Tuesday, but weather maps suggest improvement mid-week. The heavy rain and storms should clear by late Wednesday, leading to brighter weather in the latter half of the week. While some showers may occur on the north-west coast of Scotland and the Norfolk coast, the rest of the country should remain dry on July 23. The Met Office forecasts sunny spells and scattered showers throughout the week, with less rain and more sunshine by Thursday, and temperatures around the seasonal average.
Looking ahead to the period from July 25 to August 3, the Met Office anticipates a weather pattern dominated by westerly winds. Showers or longer periods of rain are possible across the country, with the wettest weather expected in the west and northwest, particularly over hills. Drier and sunnier conditions are more likely east of hills and across southern and eastern areas. It will be breezy at times, especially further north. Temperatures are expected to be near average for the time of year, with a small chance of hot spells during late July and early August.

Why isn't anything being done to improve our weather patterns? This is just unacceptable!

I’m seriously considering moving somewhere with better weather. This constant rain is exhausting!

It's great that the Met Office is keeping us informed. Better safe than sorry during these storms.

The forecasts are always doom and gloom. Can we get a little positivity around the weather, please?
