As I write this, I anticipate that you will have seen the final interview of my career. I am delighted that it was with my friend and political figure, Nigel Farage, who believes he is on track to become the next Prime Minister of Great Britain. I conducted the interview last week in my garden, a pleasant setting for our conversation.
We have known each other for at least twenty years, making it fitting that he was my last interview. Over the past 52 years, I have spoken to countless individuals, but Nigel is among my favorites. He is known for his honesty and directness, a quality that resonates with the public.
While you may not share his views, you can be certain he is not being disingenuous. He shared that, if not in politics, he would enjoy running a small farm or being a fisherman. However, I believe he would miss the intensity of politics. This is part of his appeal; he is financially secure enough to retire, yet he is dedicated to our country, enough to endure the challenges of politics. I can't imagine a better conclusion to my broadcasting career than speaking with the man I believe will be Prime Minister when the current leader is removed from office. I regret that I won't be around to witness him save Britain, but it is reassuring to know it will be in capable hands.
Nigel humorously remarked, "If I'm the bookies’ favourite to be prime minister, which I am, it doesn’t say much for the rest of them does it really?" He continued, "But we have a chance of doing something genuinely historic, really genuinely historic, and there’s momentum out there, there’s an optimism out there. They’re gonna throw everything they’ve got at us, but I think we’re going to do it and I’m certainly not even contemplating failure.” I wish him the best of luck.

This could be the start of something truly historic! Can’t wait to see how it unfolds!

You call that resonance with the public? More like resonance with a fringe!
