British & Irish Lions coach Andy Farrell has added another Scottish player to his squad, bringing in lock Gregor Brown. This move was prompted by the injury to Joe McCarthy during the first test match against Australia, which the Lions won.
McCarthy was taken off the field in the second half due to a foot problem. Farrell later confirmed the injury as plantar fascia. Brown joins the squad after the Scotland team concluded its tour of the Pacific.
Brown is the fourth player called up from the Scotland squad, joining Darcy Graham, Rory Sutherland, and Ewan Ashman. Sutherland, Ashman, and Brown played in the recent win over Samoa and are set to join the Lions ahead of their midweek match in Melbourne.
Farrell also mentioned that Blair Kinghorn and Garry Ringrose, who are dealing with knee and concussion issues respectively, might be fit to play in Tuesday's match. He emphasized the importance of the entire squad focusing on the upcoming midweek game.
Farrell highlighted that the team's focus is solely on the squad as a whole, and that there is no separation between the players. He stated that the team will prepare for Tuesday's match with the same dedication they have shown throughout the tour.
Furthermore, Farrell indicated that the outcome of the first test did not guarantee that players who missed out on the matchday squad would not be considered for the second test. He emphasized the importance of competition and an open-minded approach.

This is a desperate move from Farrell. Hope he knows what he’s doing.

What about English players? This selection feels biased.

I’m tired of the Scottish influx into the Lions. Where’s the diversity?

Gregor Brown? Really? We should be looking at other talent pools, not just Scotland.
