The Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced the creation of a S$200 million (US$156 million) fund to address the aviation sector's workforce requirements. This initiative, known as the OneAviation Manpower Fund, aims to support efforts in attracting, developing, and retaining aviation professionals within Singapore.
The fund will be utilized for various schemes developed in collaboration with unions, aviation employers, and educational institutions. These schemes will be tailored to address specific manpower development needs within the aviation sector, according to a CAAS press release.
The S$200 million allocated for the OneAviation Manpower Fund is part of a larger S$1 billion investment previously announced in March. This larger sum is intended to support the development of Singapore's air hub over the next five years.
Furthermore, CAAS and Workforce Singapore (WSG) have jointly released a jobs transformation report focused on Singapore's aviation sector. This report provides an assessment of the current workforce, identifies future trends, and outlines programs designed to help Singaporeans capitalize on future opportunities within the sector.
The report was launched by Senior Minister of State for Transport and National Development Sun Xueling at the OneAviation Careers and Education Fair 2025, held at the Suntec City Convention Centre. CAAS highlighted that this is the first comprehensive manpower study of Singapore's aviation sector, drawing insights from over 200 companies and detailed workshops with key industry players.

Another fund. Will it actually make a difference, or is it just for show?

Is this fund actually going to help the industry? More likely it will fill someone's pocket from taxes.

Comprehensive studies are essential for understanding the needs. I'm glad they're using data to make decisions.

It's unclear whether this fund will address the actual problems, or is just another band-aid. I feel skeptical about it.
