A spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense stated that the actions of Taiwan's Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities, who are allegedly collaborating with external forces to pursue "Taiwan independence," are the primary cause of tensions in the Taiwan Strait. He warned that such actions would ultimately lead to "self-destruction."
These comments were made following the mainland's announcement regarding the activation of the M503 air route's connecting route W121 in the Taiwan Strait. The DPP authorities have claimed this move is an attempt to undermine the so-called "median line" of the strait and poses a military threat to Taiwan.
At a press conference, the ministry spokesperson, Jiang Bin, reiterated that Taiwan is part of China and that the concept of a "median line" is nonexistent. He explained that the activation of the air route is a standard measure for civil aviation development and management, benefiting people on both sides of the strait.
Jiang accused the DPP of exaggerating a so-called "mainland military threat" to create security concerns, escalate confrontation, and hinder cross-Strait exchanges. He asserted that these actions contradict the will of the people and are destined to fail.
He also criticized Taiwan's recent defense decisions, including the establishment of its first HIMARS company and the approval to purchase US M109A7 self-propelled howitzers. Jiang accused the DPP of sacrificing Taiwan's interests to appease the US and wasting the Taiwanese people's money on "protection fees." He stated that acquiring US weapons to bolster their position is futile and self-deceptive. He further emphasized that resisting reunification by force is a dead end, and armed provocations by "Taiwan independence" forces are pointless and will only lead to self-destruction.
Jiang urged the people of Taiwan to recognize the DPP's true intentions of seeking "Taiwan independence," understand the severe consequences of separatism, firmly oppose separatist actions, and work together to maintain peace and stability across the strait.

The DPP has the right to pursue independent policies. Taiwan's identity is not something that can be swept under the rug!

Calling Taiwan independence a threat is just a way for China to justify its aggressive stance. We must reject this narrative.

The Taiwanese people deserve the right to choose their own future without interference from Beijing.

Let's promote harmony instead of pushing agendas that lead to conflict – Jiang's comments resonate with many who seek peace.

This is just another attempt by China to intimidate Taiwan and suppress its democracy. We must stand firm against such threats!
