China is prepared to continue collaborating with all parties to maintain the stability and smooth operation of global industrial and supply chains. The goal is to foster an open world economy. This statement was made by Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Linjian during a regular press conference.
This summer has seen China actively pursuing high-standard opening up initiatives. The third China International Supply Chain Expo (CISCE) commenced in Beijing on Wednesday. The event highlights innovation and sustainable practices.
The expo will host a total of 651 domestic and international enterprises and institutions. Foreign exhibitors constitute 35 percent of the total, with half of them hailing from Europe and the United States. The event will showcase the latest innovations, with over 100 items making their debut, representing a 10 percent increase compared to the previous CISCE.
For the first time, the expo features an innovation chain exhibition area. This area aims to facilitate the translation of laboratory concepts into practical applications that drive industrial progress. Furthermore, the venue for this year's CISCE will be entirely powered by green electricity, with an anticipated reduction of over 1,100 tonnes in CO2 emissions.
The CISCE serves as a significant platform for companies worldwide to enhance resource sharing and technological interconnection. It is also a key event showcasing China's commitment to high-standard opening up.
Recent data indicates that China's total import and export of goods for the first half of 2025 surpassed 21 trillion yuan, reaching a historical high for that period. Despite the increasing prevalence of unilateralism and protectionism, China's robust trade has effectively mitigated the effects of disruptions to global industrial and supply chains, as well as economic decoupling. The trend of deeply integrated global industrial and supply chains and interdependence among global companies is expected to continue.

I’m not convinced that this high-standard opening up initiative isn’t just a facade to distract from ongoing issues.

I believe that China can balance its interests with those of others as long as there is a commitment to transparency.

This sounds like a classic case of 'words over actions.' China's behavior in the global market raises serious concerns.
