Trump's Spending Cuts, Rail Project Funding Cut, and Other News

The White House has confirmed that President Trump is considering sending additional spending cut packages to Congress after the current one is approved. According to Russ Vought, the initial package was intentionally small to establish a pattern, and the administration is open to further rescission packages. These are expected to be proposed soon. House and Senate Republicans are urged to prepare for continued votes on these cuts.

US Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has announced the termination of approximately $4 billion in federal funding for California's High Speed Rail project. The project, which Governor Gavin Newsom has acknowledged does not exist as promised, was initially estimated to cost $33 billion, but current estimates range between $89 billion and $128 billion. Governor Newsom has stated that California is exploring all options to challenge this legal action.

Residents near a data center built by Mark Zuckerberg in Georgia are experiencing water shortages, forcing them to use buckets of water to flush toilets and lacking potable water. While Meta funded a study claiming their data center is not the cause, residents report the issue began after the data center's construction. One study estimates that AI data centers could consume up to 1.7 trillion gallons of water worldwide by 2027.
