China Sanctions Taiwanese Entities, Reiterates Peaceful Reunification

The Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) announced the addition of eight entities from Taiwan to its export control list. This action, according to mainland analysts, is a strategic measure targeting military-industrial enterprises that support separatist activities on the island. The move is intended to weaken the efforts of the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) to resist reunification through military means.

A MOFCOM spokesperson stated that the eight Taiwanese entities had collaborated with "Taiwan independence" separatist forces, attempting to achieve independence through military means. The decision was made to protect national sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peace across the Taiwan Straits, in accordance with Chinese laws and regulations. The export of dual-use items to these companies will be prohibited.

Chen Binhua, a spokesperson for the State Council Taiwan Affairs Office, expressed strong support for MOFCOM's decision. He stated that since Lai Ching-te came to power, he has been steadfast in his "Taiwan independence" stance, promoting separatist ideas and seeking independence through foreign and military means. Chen emphasized that MOFCOM's decision is a necessary measure to safeguard national sovereignty and maintain peace, serving as a warning to "Taiwan independence" forces.

The eight entities added to the export control list include Aerospace Industrial Development Corp, GEOSAT Aerospace & Technology Inc, "National" Chung-Shan Institute of Science & Technology (NCSIST), JC Technology Inc, CSBC Corporation, Taiwan, Jong Shyn Shipbuilding Co Ltd, Lungteh Shipbuilding Co Ltd, and Gong Wei Co Ltd. The NCSIST, known for its ties to the island's defense authority, develops and sells defense technology and weapons.

Experts suggest that these eight entities form the core of Taiwan's military-industrial complex, covering key sectors such as aircraft manufacturing, shipbuilding, drones, software, and information network warfare. Sanctions will restrict these firms' access to essential mainland products and services, potentially disrupting supply chains and impacting production. This action is seen as a targeted strike, sending a clear message to military-industrial entities that support separatists.

The mainland's move is expected to weaken the ability of secessionists to resist reunification. This action coincides with the "Han Kuang exercise" held by Taiwan's military. The exercise focuses on scenarios such as responding to harassment and joint anti-landing operations.

While taking action against secessionists, the mainland continues to promote cross-Straits exchanges. The eighth cross-Straits youth development forum will be held in Zhejiang Province, with approximately 1,000 guests and youth representatives expected to attend. Additionally, students from Taiwan will participate in a skills competition in Shanghai. The mainland remains committed to peaceful development and socioeconomic integration across the Straits.
