The Abu Dhabi Sports Council, in partnership with Spartan, a prominent name in endurance and obstacle sports, has announced that the Spartan World Championship will return for its fifth edition in the scenic Al Wathba Desert from November 20 to 23, 2025. This anticipated four-day event is expected to draw thousands of skilled athletes along with community participants eager to showcase their strength, endurance, and speed.
The opening day, November 20th, will highlight a special evening race exclusively for women, featuring a challenging 5-kilometer course with 20 obstacles. Additionally, a private evening race for women will also take place, allowing female participants to compete in a focused environment away from media attention, supported by an all-female crew.
On the following day, November 21st, there will be a mixed evening Sprint 5K, where both men and women will take on the 5-kilometer distance, tackling 20 obstacles as they push their limits. The action continues on Saturday, November 22nd, with the Beast 21K World Championships designed for elite athletes, age groups, and open participants, which will challenge competitors with a 21-kilometer route and 30 obstacles. The day will also include competitive races for kids, spanning 1 to 3 kilometers.
The championship will culminate on Sunday, November 23rd, with an array of exciting events, including the Elite Teams World Championship featuring three-person teams (two males and one female), alongside the Super 10K Open and another Sprint 5K Open event. Aref Hamad Al Awani, General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, highlighted the championship's aim to enhance community involvement through races that cater to all fitness levels, aligning with the objectives of the Year of the Community initiative.
Al Awani emphasized Abu Dhabi's commitment to promoting sports culture and healthy living by hosting this significant championship for the fifth consecutive year, thereby solidifying its status as a premier global sports destination. Joe De Sena, the founder of Spartan, remarked on the region's unique desert landscape, which offers a thrilling and challenging setting for the competition, making it a perfect venue for the Spartan World Championships.

The emphasis on women's events is great, but what about support for other genders? It's just not inclusive.
