The United Arab Emirates learned their opponents for the fourth phase of Asia's preliminaries for the 2026 World Cup on Thursday. They were drawn into a group with Qatar and Oman.
The teams will compete in three-team groups in October. The winners of each group will secure a spot in the expanded 48-nation finals, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico next year. Other teams already qualified include Australia, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Uzbekistan, Iran, and Jordan.
Saudi Arabia will host Group A, with their first match against Indonesia on October 8th. Indonesia will then play Iraq on October 11th, followed by a match between Saudi Arabia and Iraq on October 14th.
Qatar, the hosts of the 2022 World Cup, will host Group B. Their first match will be against Oman on October 8th. The UAE will face Oman on October 11th, and Qatar will play the UAE on October 14th.
The teams that finish in second place in each group will advance to another round of qualifying. This round will consist of two legs, played on a home-and-away basis in November.
