Two French Teens Arrested for Drug Trafficking at Brisbane Airport

Two young French women are currently in custody in Brisbane, Australia, following their arrival at the city’s international airport on Tuesday. After a search conducted by the Australian Border Force (ABF), officials found 32 bricks of white powder in their luggage, which later tested positive for methamphetamine. The girls, aged 19 and 20, were apprehended shortly after their landing due to intelligence received by authorities which highlighted their travel patterns mirroring those of a prior group of women charged with similar offenses.

The Australian Federal Police (AFP) has charged the pair with importing methamphetamine valued at an astounding $29 million, which is equivalent to approximately 320,000 individual drug deals. The severity of the charges carries a maximum sentence of life imprisonment, and the two individuals have been remanded to court until September 5, 2025, for further proceedings.

Detective Acting Superintendent Natalie Scott from the AFP emphasized the collaboration between various law enforcement agencies in preventing drug trafficking into Australia. She reiterated that anyone caught attempting to smuggle drugs would face serious consequences, reflecting a stern warning against such criminal activities. Acting ABF Commander Troy Sokoloff praised the border officers for their efficient action based on credible intelligence and noted that it was unlikely the young women acted independently, suggesting the possibility of a larger network involved in drug trafficking.

They should have known better. Ignorance is no excuse. They are adults and they bear the fault.

They are importing drugs to destroy the lives of other people, so I feel no sympathy.

It’s not the authorities' problem when people knowingly break the law. Let the justice system do its job.

I can't help but feel sorry for them. They are already young. Their lives are ruined! They may not be bad people!

320,000 drug deals would have required hundreds of people, but I would not be surprised if one of the young woman just got used and sacrificed.
