On Friday, the China Coast Guard (CCG) announced the expulsion of a Japanese fishing vessel. The vessel was reportedly found to have illegally entered Chinese territorial waters near Chiwei Islet on Wednesday.
A CCG spokesperson, Liu Dejun, stated that the CCG took appropriate control measures. These included issuing warnings to the Japanese vessel before ultimately driving it away. The actions were taken in accordance with established laws.
Chiwei Islet is considered an affiliated islet of China's Diaoyu Islands, located in the East China Sea. The spokesperson reiterated China's claim of sovereignty over the Diaoyu Islands and their surrounding islets.
Liu Dejun urged the Japanese side to immediately halt all unlawful activities within these waters. He further stated that the CCG would continue to enforce its rights and conduct law enforcement operations within China's jurisdictional waters. The goal is to protect national territorial sovereignty and maritime rights.

Was there sufficient evidence of the violation? Due process is crucial.

This escalates tensions again. We need de-escalation, not these aggressive actions.

Excellent action by the CCG! We won’t tolerate illegal activity in our waters.
