Vice-Premier Zhang Inspects Flood Control Efforts, Emphasizes Preparedness

In Shijiazhuang, Vice-Premier Zhang Guoqing emphasized the ongoing importance of flood control and disaster reduction efforts to safeguard the well-being of the population and their possessions. Zhang, who also holds a position within the Communist Party of China Central Committee, conducted an inspection of flood-control projects in Henan and Hebei provinces.

During his visit, Zhang observed that certain regions of China have recently faced significant challenges, including heavy rainfall, mountain floods, and mudslides. He stressed the necessity for relevant departments to provide comprehensive support to affected areas, focusing on relief efforts and the subsequent rebuilding process.

Furthermore, Zhang underscored the importance of proactive measures to ensure early detection and swift responses to potential emergencies. He highlighted that the nation is currently entering a crucial period for flood prevention, coinciding with the active typhoon season. Local governments and related departments must be fully prepared for extreme situations, with a particular emphasis on preparedness at the grassroots level.
