A 26-year-old Singaporean man, Tan Yi Bin Ryan, has been remanded and faces a sixth charge of animal cruelty. The charges stem from alleged abuse of multiple cats.
The latest charge accuses Tan of cruelly torturing a cat, identified as E6, on March 13. The alleged incident involved dragging the cat by its tail, slamming it against a wall three times, and dropping it on the floor, resulting in injuries. This occurred at a common corridor in Toa Payoh.
Tan was previously charged with five other counts of animal abuse. These include allegedly stabbing a cat, identified as E2, causing a wound. He is also accused of stabbing three other cats on a separate occasion.
Furthermore, Tan is alleged to have kicked an orange cat named Field Field inside a lift, stamped on its head, and then thrown it from the 34th floor, resulting in the cat's death.
The court has adjourned the case, referencing a recent High Court judgment that increased the jail sentence for another cat abuser. Tan's case is scheduled to be heard again in August. If convicted, he could face a jail term, a fine, or both, for each charge.

It’s disturbing that animal cruelty laws are not strict enough. This man should be put away for life!

This is a reflection of how our society sometimes fails to protect animals. We need to do better!

This is a complex issue. I hope the courts consider all aspects before making a decision.
