South View Primary School in Chua Chu Kang saw significant demand, with 191 applications vying for only 66 available places. Princess Elizabeth Primary School in Bukit Batok also experienced high demand, receiving 145 applications for 52 spots.
Following these schools were Temasek Primary School in Bedok South and Yangzheng Primary School in Serangoon. Princess Elizabeth Primary, Gongshang Primary, and Temasek Primary were also among the most sought-after schools in the previous year.
Phase 2A of the admissions process caters to specific groups. This includes children with a parent or sibling who is a former student, including alumni. It also encompasses children whose parent is a staff member, or a member of the school's advisory or management committee. Additionally, children who attended a Ministry of Education (MOE) kindergarten located within the primary school can apply under this phase.
Out of the 41 oversubscribed schools, 38 will conduct balloting. Balloting is implemented when the number of applicants surpasses the available vacancies, occurring in phases from Phase 2A to Phase 2C supplementary.
Admission priority is determined by citizenship and distance from the school. Singaporean citizens residing within 1km of the school receive the highest priority, followed by those living between 1km and 2km, and then those living further than 2km. Permanent residents are then considered in the same distance-based order.

It's good that they are transparent about the balloting process. Important for parents.

Distance should not be the primary factor! Quality education should be accessible for all.

The focus should be on improving all schools, not just the popular ones.

So many schools are oversubscribed. This is a serious capacity issue.
