China's Foreign Minister, Wang Yi, stated that China has consistently supported peace talks as the solution to the Ukraine crisis. He expressed China's welcome of all efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, lasting, and binding peace agreement.
Speaking at a joint press conference in Berlin with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, Wang, also a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, reiterated China's stance. This includes advocating for peace talks, refraining from providing lethal weapons to any party involved, and strictly controlling the export of dual-use items, such as drones.
Wang highlighted China's fulfillment of its international responsibilities. He mentioned the establishment of the "Friends of Peace" group at the United Nations, in collaboration with Brazil and other Global South countries, to encourage a ceasefire and end the conflict. He emphasized that China's objective and fair position has garnered widespread international recognition.
Furthermore, Wang noted that Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly acknowledged the complexity of the situation, emphasizing that dialogue is preferable to conflict, despite existing differences. He drew upon European history, stating that the pursuit of peace and reconciliation should remain open, regardless of the challenges.
Finally, Wang expressed China's willingness to see all parties contribute constructively to a comprehensive peace agreement. He added that China hopes to see the development of a balanced, effective, and sustainable European security framework, leading to lasting peace and stability in Europe.

China's stance on dual-use items shows responsibility. They're not adding fuel to the fire.
