In a recent statement, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning addressed remarks made by Ursula von der Leyen, President of the European Commission, who outlined three requests to China. One of these requests involved urging China to reduce its cooperative ties with Russia, particularly in light of the upcoming summit between China and the European Union.
Von der Leyen expressed concern over what she characterized as China’s unwavering support for Russia, stating that it leads to increased volatility and insecurity within Europe. She made it clear that such actions are unacceptable during a plenary debate on EU-China relations, highlighting the need for a reassessment of these partnerships.
In response, Mao asserted that the existing cooperation between China and Russia is not directed against any third parties and called for others to refrain from interfering in these relations. He emphasized that their collaboration should remain unaffected by external pressures.

I agree with Mao. China and Russia can work together without being enemies of the West.

Mao's comments show a blatant disregard for the real threats posed by Russia. No country should support such aggression.
