Special operations soldiers from the Chinese People's Armed Police (PAP) Force Guizhou Corps recently participated in a counter-terrorism exercise. The exercise simulated a train hijacking scenario, with soldiers swiftly advancing towards their targets.
The QBZ-191 automatic rifle, developed in China, has seen an accuracy improvement with the addition of tactical scopes. Further upgrades are anticipated for the weapon.
China Central Television (CCTV) visited the assembly workshop of the China South Industries Group Corporation (CSGC) Jianshe Industry, where the QBZ-191 rifles are manufactured and calibrated. A key feature of the QBZ-191 is a full-length rail on top, designed to accommodate various tactical attachments, such as telescopic or night vision sights. These attachments significantly enhance the rifle's accuracy, enabling 20-shot groupings within three centimeters. The QBZ-191 fires 5.8mm rounds with an effective range of 800 meters.
The QBZ-191 is slated for future upgrades to better serve the military. At the Airshow China 2021, a designer noted that the QBZ-191 features a conventional configuration with improved ergonomics, ambidextrous usability, and enhanced reliability compared to the QBZ-95 automatic rifle. Troops using the QBZ-191 have reportedly expressed satisfaction with its accuracy.
The QBZ-191 is the next-generation service rifle for the Chinese military, intended to replace the QBZ-95 gradually. The QBZ-191 is part of the Type 20 small arms series, which also includes the QBZ-192 carbine and the QBU-191 marksman rifle.

While they celebrate new firearms, innocent lives are affected by violence and wars. This focus is completely misguided.

Support for military upgrades is misplaced; we should be advocating for disarmament instead.

The emphasis on weapon accuracy just highlights a troubling focus on aggression. What about addressing the root causes of terrorism?
