Iran's judiciary announced on Sunday that at least 71 people were killed in the Israeli strike on Evin Prison, located in the Iranian capital. The attack took place on June 23rd.
The victims included prison staff, conscripts, jailed convicts, visiting family members, and residents of nearby buildings. This information was reported by the Mizan news agency, quoting judiciary spokesman Asghar Jahangir.
Jahangir condemned the attack as "terrorist and brutal," accusing Israel of disregarding international law. He noted that the infirmary, technical and engineering division, and visitation area within the prison complex were also targeted.
He described the attack as a "all-out crime," highlighting the extensive damage to nearby buildings and the severe injuries sustained by their residents.

Maybe the prison was being used to support attacks on Israeli civilians. Retaliation may be required.

This seems like a very targeted action. We need to see the intelligence before passing judgement. Not every death is a civilian death.

Absolutely horrific. Targeting a prison, regardless of who's incarcerated, is a war crime. Israel needs to be held accountable.

I am certain Israel had good reason to launch an airstrike. There is far more that we do not know about than we know.

This escalates the already volatile situation. Is this the beginning of a wider conflict? The situation is terrifying.
