On Saturday, President Donald Trump expressed that he is contemplating revoking Rosie O'Donnell’s U.S. citizenship. This statement was made in reaction to O'Donnell’s criticism of how his administration dealt with weather forecasting agencies during the catastrophic floods in Texas, which have claimed many lives. Trump declared on his Truth Social account that O'Donnell's views do not align with what he sees as the best interests of the country, echoing a rationale often used by his administration to justify the deportation of protesters who are foreign-born.

He labeled O'Donnell a "Threat to Humanity" and suggested she should return to Ireland, further reinforcing his stance with a patriotic sentiment. However, under U.S. law, it is not possible for a president to revoke citizenship from someone born in the U.S., which O'Donnell is, as a native of New York.

O'Donnell, who has been a frequent target of Trump’s online insults since 2006, recently relocated to Ireland with her son and indicated in a past TikTok video that she plans to return to the U.S. when equality and safety are restored for all citizens. This feud was reignited when O'Donnell shared a TikTok video expressing sorrow over the Texas floods' casualties, attributing the tragedy to Trump’s significant cuts to environmental and forecasting agencies. She remarked on the need for reliable early warning systems, emphasizing the consequences of their diminishment. Following the flood, which struck during the pre-dawn hours of Independence Day and resulted in numerous fatalities, many have criticized the Trump administration’s handling of the situation. In Texas on Friday, Trump defended his administration’s actions, stating that they performed admirably given the circumstances.
