A 27-year-old man lost his life in a collision on the M40 motorway. The incident occurred on the northbound carriageway near Junction 2 for Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, at approximately 1:15 am on Saturday, July 12th. The crash involved a black Volkswagen Golf and a blue Mercedes AMG C250, both traveling in the northbound direction.
The driver of the Golf, a 27-year-old man from High Wycombe, was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, a man in his 20s, sustained serious injuries and was transported to a hospital for treatment.
Following the collision, four occupants of the Mercedes, consisting of two men and two women, fled the scene on foot. Police are actively working to identify and locate these individuals. A 26-year-old man from Beaconsfield has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and possession of a bladed article and remains in custody.
Detective Sergeant Edward Crofts stated that witnesses reported the Mercedes had been driven erratically prior to the crash. He also mentioned that specially trained officers are providing support to the family of the deceased during this difficult time. Authorities are urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward with information. Emergency services, including fire crews and ambulance services, were present at the scene, and the motorway was closed for several hours. A diversion was implemented between Junction 2 and the M25 interchange at Denham.
