Typhoon Danas has caused significant disruptions along the eastern coast of the Chinese mainland, particularly affecting Zhejiang and Fujian provinces where officials have initiated large-scale evacuations. The storm first struck the Dongtou district of Wenzhou, Zhejiang, at 9:25 PM on Tuesday before making a second landfall in Rui'an shortly after. Although the storm gradually weakened after its third landfall, it continued to bring heavy rain and strong winds, prompting emergency measures.
In Zhejiang, authorities evacuated 71,000 residents from high-risk areas such as coastal zones, islands, and flood-prone locations by 10 AM Tuesday. The region enforced strict safety precautions, leading to the suspension of 118 passenger ferry routes, the grounding of 577 leisure fishing boats, and the cancellation of 372 train services. Additionally, 68 major tourist attractions and 70 tourism-related projects classified as high-risk were closed to ensure public safety.
In Fujian, educational institutions suspended all activities, particularly in Fuzhou and Ningde, in response to heightened geological hazard alerts. Officials extended public transport suspensions and the closure of scenic areas due to ongoing warnings about geological risks. While Typhoon Danas continues to weaken as it moves further inland, residents in both Fujian and parts of Guangdong are still facing potential hazards from heavy rainfall. Meanwhile, Zhejiang downgraded its typhoon emergency response level on Wednesday afternoon, but continued caution regarding heavy rains was advised in southern areas.

Glad to hear that they are going to suspend a lot of the tourist attractions and prioritize people's safety.

They are too controlling and they should let people deal with the situation themselves

Seems like a waste of resources for a weakening storm. Prioritize infrastructure, not this theatrical performance.

The suspension of train service is the best action they can take to prevent people from going somewhere unsafe! This is the correct method

It’s good to see the authorities prioritized public safety by evacuating residents in hazardous locations.

The cancellations are affecting innocent people's plans, business, and travel. Surely there’s a better balance.

The government is being proactive. Evacuating people and coordinating services is a sign of responsible governance.
