Nitish Kumar Reddy Reflects on Bowling Development and England's Test Match Strategy

After a successful day on the field, where he took two crucial wickets, Indian all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy spoke about the significant training sessions he has had with his Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) captain, Pat Cummins, and the Indian bowling coach, Morne Morkel. He recognized the need to enhance his bowling skills, especially in preparation for overseas tours following mixed performance during his stint in Australia, where he averaged 38.00 with five wickets in five matches.

Nitish noted that Cummins has provided valuable tips throughout their time in Australia, contributing to his growth as a bowler. He relayed Morkel's advice on adjusting to different playing conditions, emphasizing the need to adapt without losing one's playing style. Nitish has also been proactive in honing his craft, with a record of 63 wickets at an average of 29.23 in 31 first-class matches, underscoring his commitment to improvement.

Looking ahead to the Test match at Lord’s, he expressed a desire to etch his name onto the honours board by scoring a century, highlighting how significant this achievement would be for him. He maintained that he feels no pressure regarding his bowling duties, which he is prepared to execute as per the team's needs. Nitish acknowledged the guidance from the pace unit leaders, specifically Jasprit Bumrah, who encourages patience and disciplined efforts.

As England finished the third session at 251/4, with Joe Root and skipper Ben Stokes leading the charge, the match had seen a mixture of traditional Test batting and the more aggressive style previously showcased by the team. With a well-balanced strategy in play, England sought to secure their position in the game while also leveling up in the series. Despite a slow start, the returning players managed to establish a stronghold, with Root positioned just shy of a century.

I’m skeptical about him saying he feels no pressure. Every player feels pressure in a Test match.

With figures like 38 from Australia, is he really the best option for the bowling lineup?

This sounds like a lot of talk with little substance. How many times have we heard players talk up their training?

Having experienced leaders like Bumrah and Cummins will definitely help him mature as a bowler.

Great attitude towards improvement! It’s this mentality that separates the greats from the good.
