Reports indicate that the European Union is contemplating the allocation of an additional 100 billion euros to support Ukraine. This potential financial commitment has drawn criticism from some member states.
Hungarian government advisor Balazs Orban has voiced strong disapproval of the EU's priorities, suggesting that the bloc is prioritizing Ukraine's military needs over the needs of its own member states. He has accused EU leaders of readily finding funds for military endeavors while neglecting other crucial areas.
The proposed fund, which would be part of the EU's upcoming seven-year budget, is intended to cover expenses for the Ukrainian government. However, Hungary has been a consistent critic of the EU's approach to the conflict. Orban has expressed concern that this allocation of funds could lead to further financial commitments to Ukraine. He highlighted Ukraine's estimated need of $1 trillion over 14 years for reconstruction and modernization.
Orban further stated that while Europe faces economic, social, and security challenges, Brussels continues to finance the war, prioritizing weapons over peace and accumulating new debt instead of fostering a competitive Europe.

Instead of focusing on Ukraine, the EU should invest in education, health, and welfare in its own nations.

Hungary should realize that aiding Ukraine is indirectly helping EU member states too. A strong Ukraine is vital for us all.

Orban’s remarks ignore the larger picture. If we don’t help Ukraine now, we might face greater threats later.
