Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, announced plans to construct Artificial Intelligence-first Healthcare Temples. These integrated campuses, with a capacity of 1,000 beds each, will be initiated in Ahmedabad and Mumbai.
These healthcare facilities are designed to be world-class, affordable, and AI-driven. The Adani Group is collaborating with the Mayo Clinic for guidance on design, implementation, and global standards in medical infrastructure and research.
The Adani Group is preparing for a capital expenditure investment of approximately 100 billion US dollars over the next five years. These investments are seen as a representation of India's future. The scale and speed of this investment and commitment are unprecedented in India's private sector.
In his address, Gautam Adani reflected on his entrepreneurial journey. He recounted his early experiences, including a commission deal in Mumbai that earned him Rs 10,000. He emphasized that beliefs must always outweigh doubts.
Adani highlighted the core of entrepreneurship, stating that it begins with conviction, courage, and the willingness to dream alone. He recalled returning to Ahmedabad in 1981 to manage his brother's PVC film factory at the age of 19. This experience taught him resilience, people management skills, and how to navigate the challenges of the Licence Raj.
Adani also discussed the success of the Mundra project in Gujarat. Initially, the goal was to build a salt export jetty with a US partner. When the partner withdrew, the Adani Group took on the project independently. They embraced the Public-Private Partnership policy for port development. Despite facing skepticism, they proceeded, even though they had no prior construction experience.
Adani emphasized that Mundra represents a belief made real. It has become home to India's largest multi-cargo port, the world's largest private single-site thermal power plant, a large integrated solar and wind manufacturing hub, and various industrial clusters.
The journey that began in Mundra has expanded across India. The Adani Group is now the world's second-largest solar power company and is building the world's largest single-site hybrid renewable park. The company is also India's largest private airport operator.
The Adani Group now manages a significant portion of the country's seaborne cargo and operates an integrated energy business. The Group's presence is also growing in cement manufacturing, aerospace and defense, data centers, and real estate.

This is just a publicity stunt. We need real healthcare, not just fancy tech.

1,000 beds? That’s not enough for a city like Ahmedabad or Mumbai. This plan is inadequate.

The Adani Group has a questionable track record. Can we trust them with healthcare?

Making healthcare 'affordable' is one thing, but what does that even mean in practice?
