Tottenham Hotspur announced the signing of forward Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United late on Thursday. The North London club confirmed the agreement of a long-term contract with the player.
While the financial specifics of the transfer were not released, reports from British media suggest the deal is valued at approximately 55 million pounds. Kudus, a Ghana international, will celebrate his 25th birthday next month.
The exact duration of Kudus's contract was not specified by Spurs. However, British media reports indicate a six-year agreement, extending until 2031.
In a statement, Kudus expressed his enthusiasm for the move, highlighting the project and the manager's vision as key factors in his decision. He cited the manager's track record of developing talent as a significant draw.
Spurs appointed former Brentford boss Thomas Frank in June, replacing Ange Postecoglou.
Kudus previously joined West Ham from Ajax Amsterdam in 2023 for around 40 million euros. During his two league seasons with West Ham, he scored 13 goals and provided 12 assists.
Despite a less productive league campaign last season, Kudus's energetic style and dribbling skills are expected to be a valuable asset for Frank. Frank is anticipated to implement a counter-attacking system similar to the one he utilized at Brentford.
Kudus may need to address some past issues upon his arrival at Spurs. He received a five-match ban and a fine for violent conduct following a heated incident during a match between West Ham and Spurs last October.
