China Rejects Taiwan's Independence Efforts, Reiterates Reunification Goal

Zhu Fenglian, a spokesperson for the Taiwan Affairs Office of the State Council, addressed inquiries concerning reports about the mainland's J-10C fighter jets and PL-15 missiles. These reports suggested a significant advantage during an India-Pakistan air conflict, generating considerable discussion in Taiwan. Some commentators noted that the reported capabilities undermined the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) authorities' belief in resisting reunification through military force.

In response, Zhu Fenglian stated that the DPP authorities' continued commitment to separatist "Taiwan independence" and their efforts to "seek independence by relying on foreign support" and "resist reunification by force" were fundamentally misguided. She characterized these actions as self-deceptive and ultimately destined for failure.

Zhu emphasized the mainland's unwavering confidence, resolute determination, and substantial capabilities. She asserted the ability to decisively defeat any separatist attempts aimed at "Taiwan independence." Furthermore, she reiterated the commitment to safeguarding national sovereignty and territorial integrity, and ultimately achieving national reunification.
